Literature Text

It's the end of an era.
It's time to say good-bye.
I just hope there's time to look back,
I hope it's not to late.

Time is just an hour glass
Super glued to a table;
The sand goes down all the time
Every piece of sand a memory.

I wish I could have shared
More moments, days, hours, minutes...
But I don't regret a single speck of sand.
Not with you.

All of the memories
All of the tears, the laughter,
The love, the hate, the anger, the happiness we shared
Is at the bottom of that hourglass.

I'm surely going to miss you,
No, I TRULY will.
But I'll always have the sand in the hourglass,
And I hope you do as well.

So the era is gone,
The candle has been burnt out.
And the hourglass is still glued to the table;
Cherish every piece of sand inside.
The school year has finished out and I'm left with so many memories of my sophomore year.

Many of my teachers are leaving (including my choir teacher Ms. Westfall, who I did not know was leaving until last week) and so are some of the students. One thing I'm glad about, and always will be glad about, is that I shared this year with so many great people who I am proud to call my family, friends, and mentors.

I was also prompted to write this because of the song "When I'm Gone" by Randy Newman which was played on the series finale of Monk. In a way, this song indicates "the end of an era" which is how this feels.

Have a great summer, everyone. :)
